JOHN O. COOK INC. LOGGING AND LAND SERVICES

About Us

In 1942, John Osro Cook started his own stumping business while living in Columbia, MS by selling stumps to Gulf Naval Shores, where they extracted turpentine. Eight years later, they moved to Andalusia, AL to find more stumps and grow the business. After starting up a business by using stumps from when the country was first developed, stumping was slowly playing out. This is when John O. Cook, Inc. moved to Fitzgerald, GA in 1960 where they decided to start logging in 1971.

Keeping it in the family, John O.’s son, John Cook, followed in his fathers footsteps and later took over the business for him. Clay and Todd Cook, sons of John Cook, both attended Georgia Southern University, then returned home to help their father run the business. Clay’s sons, Drew and Jacob Cook, currently work with their father, making them fourth generation of the company.
